An Important Update

Posts have been pretty scarce around here lately as I was frantically preparing for a week of class in Memphis, and then actually attending said class.

I have some stuff in mind that I plan to write about, but before I do so, I wanted to give a personal update of sorts.

I usually don’t spend a lot of time talking about events in my life on this blog, and instead talk more about issues and topics that are interesting to me. But today there was a development in my life that was so monumental that I felt compelled to share it with the world.

Today, for the first time ever, my dog caught a frisbee in his mouth in mid air.

In the words of Louie, this looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

You would love to watch our Sabra dog, then. She catches about 80% of Frisbee throws. When they're good throws, she catches 99%. Maybe I'll try to take video sometime for you.

Oh, the first few times we threw w/ her, we used several plastic frisbees, but she'd chew them up. We finally found a fabric dog frisbee at walmart that has lasted great (for 2+ years); it throws really well, too. It's called the Flippy Flopper and looks like this: http://www.theflippyflopper.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=181&zenid=3921fc549f72b035d316d764cff75eea

And congrats to you and your dog.

Lori,

That's pretty impressive. Hopefully with practice Jasper will get to where he is as consistent as Sabra.

Thanks for the link to the frisbee…for now I have plenty of old frisbees that I'm willing for Jasper to play with, but when I run out of those I'll give it a look!

Justin,

Yeah, I was pretty stoked. We'll have to practice quite a bit and then I'll be happy to show him to audiences.
